Sending a finished interview to a listener is a different task from sending the editable session to another producer. The file you save needs to match what the recipient will do with it.
Identify the expected use
The Audacity project guide distinguishes its AUP3 project format from exported audio such as WAV or MP3. The project preserves editing information for Audacity; an exported audio file is intended for playback or use in other applications.
Ask whether the recipient needs to listen, edit the arrangement or supply feedback on a particular version. A project file is not a convenient substitute for a playback file simply because it contains the recording.
Name the handover clearly
Include a short note identifying the file’s purpose and the relevant application version for editable work. For a listening copy, state the episode or revision it represents.
Retain your working project through the normal production workflow if further edits are expected. Exporting a mix does not mean every part of the session can be reconstructed from that mix. Choosing the right deliverable makes collaboration easier and avoids a recipient discovering that the attachment cannot do the job they were asked to perform.
